Instructions

Aim of Badge: To show engineering is for everyone.

Instructions:
1. Prepare – Print out the ‘Engineering is everywhere’ campsite worksheet. You can print one out for the unit or multiples for the girls to work in teams on the spotting challenge.
2. Warm up questions – We’ve provided a couple of questions overleaf to introduce engineering and the badge to the unit. Feel free to use whatever method of answering questions that works best for your group (running to either side of the room for true and false, jumping in the air for yes etc.)
3. Explain – Use the brief explanation of engineering below to introduce engineering as a concept.
4. Spot – Use the ‘Engineering is Everywhere’ campsite scene worksheet to pick out as many examples of engineering as you can with the girls. Some examples to be found in the picture are:
• Torch – Electronic engineering
• Waterproof clothes and tents – Materials/ chemical engineering
• Treehouse – Structural engineering
