Description

1 hour's programme to get through as much of pre enrolment as possible Specific activities and add in Smile, Silence Sign etc pop quizzes.

Opening Ceremony (15 min)
- Six Song - know their Six song
- Brownie Pow Wow - ask teh Explore Brownies to run the Pow wow
- Good deeds done

Activities (60 min)
- Activity 1 ) Washing line promise relay (20 min)
- Activity 2) Promise and Law Relay (20 min)
- Activity 3) Brownie Story (20 min)

Closing ceremony (5 min)
- Activity 4) Brownie Smile
- Activity 5) Brownie Prayer

Instructions

1 ) Washing line promise relay

Description: Peg the promise on the washing line in the right order.
Outcome: The winners are the first six to put it all together correctly.

Resources - For each six:
- Clothes shapes cut out of card or paper - use different colour for each six.
- approximately 12 pages with words of the promise written on the clothing so that the girls can put in the correct order (can be laminated)
- Pegs,
- Washing line (rope or string)

Instructions
- All the clothes are put in the middle of the room each six is given a different colour to collect.
- One at a time the girls run to the middle and collect a piece of clothing.
- Once all the clothes have been collected they have to peg them in the correct order on their line.

2) Promise and Law Relay (2017)

Description: Running game to help learn the Promise and the Law
outcome: The winners are the first six to put it all together correctly.

Resources
- Promise and law printed on card and cut out word by word.
- Preferably on different coloured card for each six

Instructions
- Sixes line up for a relay race
- Brownies take it in turns to run to the opposite end of the hall and collect a part of the law or promise from a Leader/pile on the floor.
- On returning to their team, the next Brownie runs to collect the next piece of the law or promise
- The rest of the Six try to assemble the parts into the correct

Activity 3) Brownie Story (15 min)

- Print the story and make it quick!

Description: Listen to the Brownie Guide story (Read and listen)

Resources
- Copy of the Brownie Guide Story (in attached file)

Instructions

- Brownies listen to the Brownie Guide story and understand what it means to be a Brownie.
- The Brownies are to be put into groups of five at the end of the meeting room, with chairs/cones at the other end of the room.
- Name each child Aoife, Seán, Mum, Dad or Owl.
- When a Brownie hears her character’s name in the story she runs up to the other end of the meeting room, around the chair and back to her line again.
- When they hear the word Brownies, they form a train in their group of five and run up to the chair and back to their line.

alternative: Using Ship, Sea, Shore game - put actions to the names and swap the "ship sea shore" for "Mum", "Brown Owl" and "Brownie" and

Actions:

- Aoife Hands in the air, shout yah, hay
- Sean Hand to mouth, wah, wah, wah (Indian Style)
- Mum and Dad Wag finger, “Don’t do that”
- Owl: Flap wings, hoot 3 times
- Brownies: All Brownies make Brownie sign, shake hands (left hand) and smile.


Closing Ceremony

4) Brownie Smile

Description: closing Ceremony using brownie Smile and Prayer

Instructions
- Form a standing pow wow with all unit members.
- One person starts by sending the Brownie smile around to the next person and so on until it returns to the start.
- This person then turns her back and the smile goes around again.
- When the person with her back turned yells "Stop!", the person receiving the Brownie Smile is carer of unit mascot for the week or can run the Pow Wow the next week

5) Brownie Guide Prayer:

'Together as Brownie Guides we pray,
For help to love throughout the day,
For help to listen to be a friend,
To do what is right at every bend,
We ask for help our Promise to keep,
And say thank you for all that we reap.'
