Description
This is a quick and easy game where children become the vegetable soup ingredients.

No equipment is needed for this game
Instructions
1) The group should sit in a large circle, making sure there is space to run around the outside of the circle.
2) Ask the group to name 4 vegetables, e.g. carrot, broccoli, potato, sweetcorn.
3) A leader should to walk around the circle tapping a child on the shoulder to give them one of the vegetable names. The vegetables should be given in the same order, so every fourth child will be the same vegetable.
4) Ensure everyone knows the vegetable they are, by calling out a vegetable, asking the children to put their hand up if they are the vegetable. Every fourth child’s hand should be in the air.
5) Explain to the group that you are going to call out a vegetable. If they are that vegetable, they should run around the edge of the circle, trying to be the first to sit back down in their place.
6) The first person back each time should receive a point.
7) Start by calling out the vegetables one at a time until everyone understands what to do. Explain that you may call out more than one vegetable at a time. If you call ‘Vegetable Soup’, everyone needs to stand up, run around the room, and sit back down in their space.
8) Continue playing for several minutes, making sure all children get a similar amount of goes.
9) The child with the most points at the end of the activity is the winner.
