2 bases - Split the YPs into 2 groups.


Base 1

Accessibility Survey ~30mins
Access Survey

Carry out an Access Survey of the meeting place. When carrying out the survey consider all the different types of disabilities that people may have how may use the building, e.g. Deaf, Blind, Wheelchair Users.
After the survey, discuss any possible improvements.



One Limb - Writing & Drawing ~5mins

YPs to write their name and draw a triangle on the paper using their writing hand then their non-writing hand. Ask them:
Was it hard?
Is it neat?
Did it take longer to write with non-writing hand?




Base 2
Countryside Dangers ~15mins

YPs discuss their ideas about dangers to wildlife. Create posters to let others know.



Air Activities ~15mins

YPs to tell the others in their group about an aircraft they have researched at home; if they haven’t got one they can pick one from the sheets and learn at least 3 interesting facts to tell the group.

Talk to somebody who has flown in an aircraft, helicopter or hot air balloon. What was it like? If you have already flown in an aircraft, tell others in your group about it.

Tell others in your group about an aircraft (real or imagined) that you would like to fly in and why.

Membership Badge ~5mins

Explain that each part of the membership badge has a meaning. You have 5 minutes to match the answers to the badge.

Note: there is no answer for the name of the knot - they should know this, so need to tell leader.

Teach another YP a new skill; this should be something they dont’ already know how to do so need to talk to each other. Pick your own skill or pick from the below.

Balls of different sizes - tennis/footballs

Play ball games while impaired, for example throwing and catching (made more difficult by using a football), circle ball game throw the ball around the circle and they try and catch and throw with one hand.
