Skill Sharing For Cubs

Report Copyright Infringement View in OSM UK

Description

Cubs teach each other a new skill or trick as a part of their Team Leader Challenge badge and Communicator Activity badge.

Resources

Cubs must arrive to the meeting with any props or equipment they need to demonstrate and teach their skill around 10 times (depending on pack size/attendance)

Instructions

We asked Cubs to find a skill or trick they could explain and teach to another Cub in around 3 minutes. Nothing that takes weeks or months of practice, but something that can be taught simply.

Suggestions:

A magic or card trick
A knot
A tongue-twister
A phrase in another language
A craft skill
How to draw something
How to recognise something in nature
How to memorise something
Their name, spelled in the (British!) phonetic alphabet or sign language.

The purpose of this exercise is a focus on communication and patience. It is not a talent show but a chance to teach and learn with the pack.

Cubs are paired up and spend approximately 6 minutes in each couple, teaching for the first 3 minutes before switching around and learning for the next 3. Then they move on to a new Cub. We have 20 Cubs in our pack so expect the exercise to take around 1 hour.
