Instructions

Leaders / helpers disguised as characters. Sitting on chairs around the building – in the library, craft room, kitchen, corridors, etc to make it more of a challenge. Split each lodge into 2 teams so they can all have chance to work each clue out.

Beavers start with a clue for the first character. Once they’ve worked out who the character might be, the hunt for that character begins.
The Beavers keep following clues until all 5 characters have been found. Each character signs their autograph and shares the next clue, written on a slip of paper (one for each group).

Characters and clues:

Gruffalo – I have knobbly knees, and turned-out toes, and a poisonous wart at the end of my nose. Who am I?
Paddington Bear – I come from Peru and my favourite food is marmalade sandwiches. Who am I?
Matilda - I love reading books and I also have special powers. I have a lovely teacher called Miss Honey but the headmistress, Miss Trunchbull, is horrible. Who am I?
Alice (in Wonderland) - I followed a white rabbit down a hole and met all sorts of strange creatures and a queen. Who am I?
The BFG - I catch dreams in a butterfly net and then store them in jars in my home in Giant Country. I then share the dreams with children like my friend Sophie. Who am I?

Once they have collected all five characters, teams show the leader running the game. First team back wins 6 beads, then 5, 4 etc. Beavers to sit in lodges on the floor until all other teams have finished the hunt.
