Description

This non-elimination relay game helps Cubs learn what to pack for camp while promoting teamwork and fun.

Item cards
printed picture of backpacks (1 per team)

Instructions

1. Set up a relay race course in a safe area, marking a start line and a finish line.
2. Scatter the item cards on the ground at the finish line
3. Divide Cubs into teams of 4-6.
4. Before each round, the game leader describes the type of camp and weather ("A day camp in Winter with a hike", "a nights away camp in the Summer, some rain is announced", etc)
5. On the leader's signal, the first Cub from each team runs to the items, selects one to bring back, and puts it on their team's backpack.
6. Once everyone has gone once and back with an item, give 1 point per useful item packed. They have to think about the camp description before choosing (You wouldn't pick a wooly hat for a Summer camp for example).
7. You can add trick items to tempt them.
