Encourage girls to become more aware of the origin of the items they use or interact with daily and how they relate to the SDGS while gaining understanding of globalisation and the global supply chain.


Resources

 Printed/ Digital Visible SDG Poster
 Timer/ Watch
 Internet Connection OR pre prepared magazines/ print outs containing relevant information

Instructions

1. Leaders should split girls into pairs or groups.
2. Each pair should be handed a poster of the 17 SDGs, or a projected copy should be visible to all.
3. The pairs should be encouraged to choose an item that the other person has (eg: a t-shirt the other person is wearing, a sock, a phone they are holding etc).
4. The pair should research where this item was made and discuss the journey of how the item made it into their possession.
5. Prompts- What countries were involved? What resources were used? Who were the manufacturers?
6. When the time is up each girl should present to their partner what they found out about their item.
7. Pairs should discuss whether they were aware of this information before researching and link it with what SDGS it could relate to (e.g., t-shirt linking to SDG 12 Responsible Consumption).
