Description

This activity explores different flora and fauna from different environments around the world and increases the girls’ awareness of biodiversity and promotes learning about the home countries of the WAGGGS World Centres.

Resources

✓ Pictures/Illustrations of different native plants/animals.
✓ Pictures/Illustrations of the 5 WAGGGS World Centres.

Instructions

1. Leaders should split girls into 5 groups and should assign a WAGGGS World Centre to each group.
2. Each group should be informed about their assigned World Centre and its location.
3. Images of various plants/animals native to each Centre’s home country should be shuffled distributed randomly to each group.
4. The groups should then be asked to communicate with each other and work together in order to find the correct home for each plant/animal and return them to the correct World Centre.
5. Once the groups have finished, they should be invited to discuss differences/similarities between the various native species and to explore what might affect their habitats e.g., temperature, rainfall, human activity, other plants/animals, etc.
