Description

Cubs will create a bird identification chart to help them recognise different species.

Resources

- Paper
- Coloured pencils or markers
- Images of common UK birds (printouts)

Instructions

1. Provide each Cub with a piece of paper and coloured pencils or markers.
2. Show images of common UK birds and explain their characteristics (especially differentiating marks).
3. Instruct Cubs to draw (or cut out) images of the birds and label them accordingly on their chart - specifically thinking about the markings that make them easily identifiable.
4. Encourage creativity; they can decorate their charts with facts about each bird and could try to describe the call/song.
