Description
In this initial activity, Scouts will be briefed about the litter picking activity and where we will be doing this, its purpose, and safety measures.

- Litter pickers
- Bin bags for collected litter
- Gloves
- First aid kit
Instructions
(First task 15 mins)
1. Gather all Scouts at the scout hall, ensuring everyone is attentive.
2. Explain the importance of keeping the environment clean and how litter impacts wildlife and water.
3. Discuss what items they are allowed to pick up (e.g., plastics, papers) and what to avoid (e.g., sharp objects, hazardous waste, dangerous plant life).
4. divide into groups for the litter pick
(second task 60mins)
4. Hand out gloves and litter pickers, demonstrating how to use them properly.
5. Explain the safety protocols around the pond, especially the need to stay away from the water's edge.
6. walk to the area in which to begin the litter pick and begin the task
third task 15 mins
discuss what everyone has found and the different impacts this would have on the environment
walk back to scout hall.
