Description
A wide game played over the entire camp. from start to finish. Its a secret mission game that relies on scouts adhering to the rules.
Resources
Paper/ pen.
Its better to prep before camp so that cards could be laminated so they can be used again. But I have played this game using hand towels as paper.
One sheet of paper with everyone's name on, Betty, Mary, Alex Cuthbert, Hathi, Kaa, Skip, Sam, Dan loobyloo, Duggie
One sheet of paper with a common object on it. ( enough for one each) ie table spoon, tent peg, bag of crisps, hot drink, water bottle, towel, cap, necker.
One sheet of paper with locations on.. Bedroom, in a tent, on the grass, under a tree, off the ground, in the dark, while eating a meal, before noon etc .
give one name one item and one location to each player
Instructions
This game is better to be run over a camp in fact the longer you have to play it the better it is.
You need at least one leader/ YL who is NOT playing the game .. they are the advice/ help person.
At the start of camp you give every participant 3 cards. ALL cards need to remain SECRET do not show them to anyone (other than the Advice/help person)
Card one is the name of one of the other participants.
Card two is a common object that you expect to find at your location eg tent peg, stick, mallet on camp. but if playing in a building these would be not appropriate.
Card three is a location. eg at the washup station, off the ground, in a bedroom/ tent, in the dinning area. Again this needs to be a common place not on the lake if you are only on the lake for 60mins out of the entire camp.
Tell the scouts that the most important rule is to keep your cards secret.
Once all participants have their 3 cards they can go and look at them and keep them safe on their person or somewhere easily accessible.
explain to the scouts that they need to "get" the person named on card 1. That person is then out of the game. To get got scouts need to hand the object on card 2 to the person on card 1 at the location named in card 3.
eg If scout A has cards Hathi, Tent peg, Wash station. Scout A needs to hand a tent peg to Hathi at the wash station.
Then say "you got got" and show Hathi the 3 cards. Hathi is then out of the game. Hathi would then hand over their 3 cards to scout A who then has to go and get the new victim.
Hence it is vital that everyone including those out just don't talk about "the game"
Then launch into another game or activity to take the focus away from the "game"
The more you place the more wary you are from accepting anything from anyone.
I've been "got" with a morning coffee before now. Hidden items are allowed ie a spoon in a sock BUT all items must be passed not thrown or put in someone's pocket/bag. they must be received willingly.
Variation
Give each participant 3 missions that they need to complete
ie get a player to compliment you on your hair
Get a player to say "boogies"
wear an item of clothing inside out get someone to tell you without being prompted
