Description

Part of a potato themed night where Scouts come with a potato. They need to ID their own potato.
There are separate activities to do for the rest of the night with their potato

Resources

A potato each
A marker

Instructions

Scouts arrive with a potato or are given one.

The potato is labelled on the underneath with the Scout's initials. ie the side that the potato would naturally lie on.

Scouts are told to get to know their potato as they will need to recognize it later.

Potatoes are collected in for a potato crowd, When you are ready to play - jumble them up, space them out , with the initials remaining on the underneath.

Scouts are then set loose to find their potato. However they are not allowed to check the underside. Once they have found the potato they think is their's, they go back to their patrol place and stand there with the potato cradled in their hands - so they cannot accidently see the underside.

If there is a dispute, they can calmly have a discussion. If there is no resolution, then the two stand together until the big reveal.

Big reveal to see who is right.

====

Take two

Go again, but this time
1. time it
2. Scouts are allowed to look at the back.

Take two point two

In this version they are working as a team to be faster than last time. It is not individual. It is altogether.
This time, each time a Scout picks up a potato, they give it to the owner of the potato. Do not forget to time it.

Reflection

Did the take two point two work better/faster? Why?
