Report Copyright Infringement View in OSM UK
Description
A Senior Branch GCE activity to explore what “global” means and identify the issues that matter to you.
Resources
• Mugs (1 per person)
• Tea
• Biscuits
• Pens
• Paper
Instructions
1. Warm-up: Cup of Tea & Chats (15 min)
• Everyone grabs a cup of tea, sits in a circle, and shares the biscuits.
• Ask the following questions or create your own:
o If you could go anywhere in the world, where would you go and why?
o If you could have dinner with one inspiring person (dead or alive), who would it be and why?
o If you could have one superpower for a day, what would it be and how would you use it?
2. Main Activity: Global Issues Café (30 min)
• Set up 5 or 6 sheets of paper labelled with global issues: Climate Change, Fast Fashion, Digital World, Migration, Gender Equality, Mental Health or a topic of your choice.
• Split participants into pairs or small groups. Groups rotate every 3–5 minutes to a different sheet, adding their thoughts in doodles, hashtags, words, or emojis on that topic.
• Tip: Play different songs as a signal for when to rotate to the next sheet.
• Once every group has completed each sheet, take turns showing them to the class. Discuss: What stands out? What surprised anyone?
3. Reflection (15 min)
• Ask each girl to write down one global issue you want to explore further.
• Ask each girl to share the issue they picked and to explain why.
• Then ask the group to vote on which issue to explore at another Senior Branch Meeting.
