Description

This activity aims to help us reflect on our beliefs and how they are affected by life experiences

Resources

Paper, Pens

Instructions

1. Hold a brief discussion with girls about who/what influences their beliefs, and ask for a few examples.
2. Give each girl paper and a pen and ask them to draw their ‘Circles of Influence’ (see attached template).
3. Instruct the girls to fill in the various influences in their life. Remind them that we each have different people in our lives that we may place in different places.
4. When they have finished, divide the girls into small groups and ask them to discuss what they found.
a. Which of the circles has the most influence over us and how do they shape our beliefs?
b. Do these influences/beliefs represent what is seen as the ‘norm’ in society? If so, can this exclude others who may be seen as outside the ‘norm’?
c. How do we become more aware/learn about those who have different influences/beliefs than us?
