To learn about fire prevention and what to do in the event of a fire
This Badge has 8 options of which 8 must be completed
Introduction
The attached pictures (see file) will help Brownies gain an understanding of potential fire hazards in the home.
Instructions
• Divide the Unit into smaller groups (in their Six if possible)
• Each group will require a Leader
• Give each group a set of the attached pictures, (in plastic pockets, marker and wipes
• Ask them to draw a circle around each hazard they can see in the pictures
• Discuss with the Leader why they think these are not safe
• Count the number of hazards they have found in each picture
• Bring the Unit back into Pow-wow circle
• Ask each group to share the number of hazards they had found
• Use wipes to clean surface of plastic pocket
Leader explained the fire risks associated with phone charging or tablet under pillows or blanket or them on soft furnishings
• Phones/tablets generate heat during charging and covering them with pillows or blanket or leaving them on heat -trapping surfaces (bed /couche) significantly increase the risk of fire
• It important to charge phones on open flat surfaces away from flammable material to reduce the risk
