Description

Provide each Beaver with a paper lantern kit (paper, scissors, glue, and decorations).
Demonstrate how to cut and fold the paper to create a lantern shape.

Once complete, display the lanterns in a designated area to light up the room.

Resources

LED tea lights ( from Amazon)
Strips of quilling paper in yellow/orange/red to create the fire effect without out lots of cutting
lolly sticks
black card
small elastic bands
glue or glue dots or sticky tape

Instructions

stick the lolly sticks to the card. 3 should be enough
Then show them how to lay the quilling paper over the sticks going round in a circle. You don't want too many as you need to pull them together and tie with an elastic band. Once they are happy, stick it down.
gently pick up most of the strips, and use the small elastic band to tie them up.
Gently pull aside a few of the strips and slide the tea light into the centre of the lantern. you can do this step before they tie the strips together.
