Description

Commanding a room is hard. Here is a fun alternative to the popular "North, South, East, West" game which can form part of your behaviour management plan in Beavers.

Play this game after your opening ceremony each week to get new Beavers familiar with the expectations and how the game works. "Go Swim" sends the beavers off to mill around the room until the next instruction.

Then, if mid-session you need to gather all the Beavers up, just say "Beavers!.. Gather Logs!" and see all your keen Beavers immediately gather at your feet! -- Use "Go Swim!" to dismiss them onto an activity.

Need to get the Beavers to be quiet? Just say "Beavers!... Crocodile!" and hear them all go "Shhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh" and raise their hands.

This game is a great confidence booster for any leader who's struggling to command a room full of rowdy 6-8 year olds.

Instructions

"BEAVERS!... GATHER LOGS" -- Beavers run to the leader and crouch in front of them making nibbling noises.

"BEAVERS!... GO.. BUILD A DAM" (Leader pointing to a wall or bench) -- All Beavers run to a bench/wall and sit/stand in a line and link arms

"BEAVERS!... CROOOCCODIILEE!!" (Leader raises hand, put finger on lips) -- All Beavers have to stand still, raise their hand in the promise sign, go “Shhhhhh” and then be quiet.

"BEAVERS!... GO.. MAKE RIVERBANKS!" -- All Beavers line up in lodges in front of the leaders

"BEAVERS!.. GO... TO YOUR LODGES!" -- Beavers who are the Lodge Leaders choose where they group

"BEAVERS!... GO.. SWIM!" -- All Beavers are released to "swim" - send them off to mill around the room in the game, or to start an activity or play.
