Play recorded bagpipe music as Cubs enter.
Give each Cub a tartan ribbon to tie on wrist or neckerchief.
Flag Break.
Explain that Burns Night celebrates Scotland’s national poet.
Mini Story: Who Was Robert Burns? (5 minutes)
Lived on a farm.
Wrote over 550 poems and songs.
His most famous song is Auld Lang Syne.
Loved nature, mice, haggis, and telling stories!

Award points per team — call teams Clans.
Team names: Clan Thistle, Clan Unicorn (Scotland’s animal), Clan Loch Ness Monster.
Food (15 minutes)
Snack — shortbread biscuits.
Cook and eat haggis, and neaps (turnips/swede) and tatties (potatoes).
Song Time (5 minutes)
Teach chorus of Auld Lang Syne (just the first verse + chorus).

Tartan shield - Paper plates, pens, straight-line rulers.
Stone circle - Cocktail sticks, marshmallows.
Caber Tossing - Pool noodles tossed for distance.
Shit out - Small beanbags.
Rug 'o War - Rope.
Haggis Relay - Sponge wrapped in foil carried on a spoon.
