Description
A scavenger hunt encourages everyone to get outside and play. Inspired by the stories of Peter Rabbit, this activity ensures that the littlest of bunnies can join in!
Resources
A glue stick
A hole punch
Scissors
String
A pencil
Colouring pens or paints
A4 paper
Coloured card
Instructions
For Squirrels its easier if the leaders make the cards, but Beavers and Cubs are encouraged to make their own.
Fold your paper in half and cut down the middle
• Create cards using the A4 paper and coloured
pens, taking inspiration from the stories of Peter Rabbit and friends. Include items you’ll see on
your nature walk such as:
– ‘Please find some water for Mr. Jeremy Fisher’
– ‘Find something prickly like Mrs. Tiggy-winkle’
– ‘Look for a fir-tree and you might see Flopsy,
Mopsy, Cotton-tail and Peter’
Try and create cards using items that you’re likely to
encounter on your nature walk.
• Glue the A4 paper on the back of coloured card
• Use the reverse sides of the coloured cards for
extra questions that will engage your little one’s
senses such as:
– Put your bare feet on the grass
– Close your eyes – what can you hear?
– Find something yellow
• Hole punch the cards together in the top corner
and use a thread to tie them all together (Laminate the cards for longevity)
• Now you have your very own nature hunting cards for Squirrel Nutkin’s scavenger hunt!
You could even create ones for each season.
