Instructions
Game 1: Squirrel Scramble
Acorns (balls or beanbags) placed in the main circle of hall. Beavers in lodges in 3 corners of hall, instruct at Go! 1 Beaver at time from each lodge has to race to fill their nest' hula hoop' First lodge to fill nest earns 5 points, 3 points 2nd 1 point 3rd.
Craft: Squirrel Ears
Give each Beaver a card headband, and pre-cut squirrel ears, let them colour the ears in, with help of Leader, to attach ears to headband, Beavers to wear for rest of session.
Skill: The Hugging Tree;
Discuss National Hugging Day - How to show kindness. Instead of physical hugs, create a hugging tree on a large roll of paper. Leader pre-draws a tree with lots of branches. Give Beavers 2-4 leaves each to write a kind word on each leaf, apply glue dots to back of leaves to stick on tree. Hang on the wall till end of session.
Game: Squirrels and Foxes;
One Beaver is the Fox, rest are Squirrels.
Squirrels must run from one tree(Hula Hoops) to another without being tagged by a fox, they get tagged they become a fox
Log chew at end to discuss what they have learnt
