Would You Share This? Safe Internet Week

Report Copyright Infringement View in OSM UK

Description

A simple role-play activity where leaders act out short, familiar scenarios involving photos, messages, or comments. Squirrels decide whether something should be shared online and why, helping them understand kindness, privacy, and making safe choices.

Resources

Scenario cards (printed or handwritten)

Simple props (toy phone, tablet cut-out, photo cards, emoji cards)

Floor space for sitting in a circle

Instructions

1 Sit the Squirrels in a circle and explain:
“Sometimes when we use screens, we have to decide if something is kind or safe to share.”

2 Leaders act out short, exaggerated role-play scenarios (no reading required). For example:

A leader pretends to take a photo of a friend looking sad.

A leader pretends to send a message saying “That’s silly!”

A leader pretends to share a picture without asking.

3 After each scenario, ask:

“Would you share this?” (thumbs up / thumbs down)

“How would it make someone feel?”

“What could we do instead?”

4 Reinforce key messages gently:

Ask before sharing

Be kind online

If unsure, ask a grown-up

4 Praise all responses and emphasise that choosing kindness online makes us good Digital Citizens.
