Instructions

Step 1
In your groups I would like you to look through some pictures (please see these at the bottom of
the page).
With the points mentioned by our pilot would these locations be safe or not safe for our helicopter to land? How do you know?

Safe is a place where you are not in danger.

Show children the pictures of different locations. Children to shout,

“Safe or Not Safe” and then discuss how they know.

Step 2
In your groups I would now like you to look through Google Maps and Google Street
View together. Can you find a Primary and Secondary location near to you that you
think would be a safe landing site for a helicopter in an emergency? Discuss why you
think a certain area would make a good landing site, or why certain areas would not
be suitable for landing.

Alternatively use real maps!
