Resources

Language chosen - have a greeting, farewell and short phrase to use ready to go.

Instructions

The Vocabulary (The "Codes") - example here is Spanish. Depending on the ages, you could pick harder language greetings or actions, or add more options to learn.

Greeting: ¡Hola! (Hello) — Action: A high-five in the air.
Farewell: ¡Adiós! (Goodbye) — Action: A dramatic bow or curtsy.
Short Phrase: ¡Mucho gusto! (Nice to meet you) — Action: Shake hands with an imaginary friend.

Phase 1: The Quick Study (2 Mins)
Stand the girls in a circle,
Call and Response: You say the word, they repeat it while doing the action.
Speed Round: Call out the words faster and faster. If you say "¡Adiós!", they must bow immediately. This gets the "wiggles" out and locks the sounds to the actions.

Phase 2: The Portal Run (8 Mins)
Setup: Use a jump rope or a line of masking tape to create a "Start Line" and a "Finish Line" (The Portal) about 20 feet apart.

How to Play:
One person (an adult or a designated student) is the Portal Guard and stands at the Finish Line with their back turned to the group.
The kids start at the Start Line. Their goal is to reach the Portal.
The Guard calls out one of the three "Codes":

- If the Guard shouts "¡HOLA!": Kids must run forward. When the Guard spins around, everyone must freeze and perform the "Air High-Five."
- If the Guard shouts "¡MUCHO GUSTO!": Kids must hop forward on one foot. When the Guard spins around, they must freeze and do the "Imaginary Handshake."
- If the Guard shouts "¡ADIÓS!": This is the "Reset." Everyone must stop, do a dramatic bow, and walk backward three steps.

The Catch: If the Guard catches anyone moving after they've spun around, or if someone does the wrong action for the word called, that person has to go back to the Start Line.

Winning: The first person to touch the Guard’s shoulder and say the "Greeting" (¡Hola!) becomes the new Guard.
