Description
A game similar to 'Captain's Coming'; however, the commands have been altered to allow the young people to memorise the different aircraft.
Resources
A3/A4 'Top trumps' cards of the Chinook, Hawk, Typhoon and Lancaster
Blue tack or similar to stick them onto the walls
Instructions
Pt 1- 5 Minutes
Young people form a semi-circle in the centre of the room.
The instructor briefly introduces each aircraft using the top trump cards.
Young people guess what the role of each aircraft is.
If young people lose interest, move faster.
Pt 2- 15 Minutes
Cards are pinned on the 4 sides of the room
Instructor explains the rules of the game (3-5 Minutes):
If the name of the aircraft is called, Young people run towards the aircraft.
If the command "Low flying aircraft" is called, Young people are to lie on the floor.
If the command "Clear prop!" is called, Young people are to spin around with their arms out like a propeller.
Game starts
Young people follow the commands.
Once confident, the instructor may say commands such as "the helicopter", "the fighter jet", "the jet used for the Red Arrows" to consolidate Pt 1.
As the end of the game is reached, those who do the wrong command or the last person to complete the command will be out to find the winner.
