Description

Scouts to build a raft out of the materials made available (pioneering poles, lashing ropes and barrels). Once they have constructed their raft, they are challenged to paddle them in the loch - perhaps around a course?

This activity is carried out as part of a team and allows for a development of personal skills and confidence.

Instructions

Build a raft then see if it stay together when you set it on water. If you have enough materials then build a few rafts then race them agains each other.

If you are rafting on Class C waters you do not need a Raft Building Permit, however should have exerience in water rescue or hold a water rescue certificate. Doing this activity in Class B waters requires a leader to hold a Raft Building Permit.
