Grass Skis
Report Copyright Infringement View in OSM UK
Description
Grass Skis is a fun, teamwork‑focused coordination challenge where two participants stand on a pair of long wooden “skis” and must walk together in sync. Each ski has foot loops or straps so both people are physically connected, forcing them to communicate, plan their steps, and move as one. It’s brilliant for team building, balance, and lots of laughter.
Resources
- 2 × long wooden planks (approx. 1.5–2m each)
- 4 × foot loops per pair of skis (rope loops, webbing straps, or screwed‑in foot blocks)
- Flat grass area free of holes or obstacles
- Cones or markers (for start/finish lines or a course)
Optional:
- Stopwatch (for timed runs)
- Extra sets of skis for multiple teams
- Helmets for younger sections if desired
Instructions
1. Prepare the skis
Lay the two wooden planks parallel on the ground.
Ensure each plank has two foot loops securely attached at equal spacing.
Check for splinters or sharp edges.
2. Brief the participants
Two people stand on the skis, each placing a foot into the loops.
They must keep their feet in the loops at all times.
Emphasise communication: “Left… right… left… right…”
3. Start the challenge
On your signal, the pair attempts to walk forward in sync.
They can race another team, complete a slalom, or navigate a simple obstacle course.
4. Encourage teamwork
Remind them to call out steps together.
Slow, steady, and coordinated beats fast and chaotic.
5. Finish the run
Once they reach the end, they step off safely.
Rotate teams or increase difficulty (backwards, turning, timed runs).
