For a visual guide on how to do this activity you can watch this video by the Cornwall Wildlife Marine Trust: https://youtu.be/Zs6ZO_oMQbs
Resources
A large flat dish or tray
A paintbrush
A few sheets of strong paper or card
Blotting paper
An old pair of cut up tights
Some cardboard
Some seaweeds
A bucket
Instructions
First collect some seaweeds. You don't need to choose very large specimens, just a few different sorts that are fresh and look nice.
Put them in a bucket of sea water until you are ready to make the pictures. Now take the seaweed, shake off any excess water, and lay it carefully onto your sheet of paper. For very delicate specimens are best floated in a dish of water first, with the paper slid underneath. As the paper is drawn out the seaweed should stick to it.
Use the paint brush to arrange the seaweed neatly or into a shape you like.
Cover the seaweed with the tights and then put some blotting paper over the tights. (The tights will prevent the blotting paper from sticking to the seaweed.)
Place some cardboard on top and weigh everything down with some rocks or books to help flatten the seaweed.
When the seaweed is dry after a week or so, you will find that it has stuck to the paper. You can then write the name of the seaweed on the paper.
