What Time is it, Mr Wolf?

Resources

(none)

Instructions

A classic, energetic children's chasing game where one player (the wolf) stands at one end of the area with their back turned. Other players ask, ‘What time is it, Mr. Wolf?’ and take steps forward matching the hour called (e.g., 3 o'clock = three steps). When the wolf shouts ‘Dinner time!’, they chase players back to the start.
Instructions:
Setup: Choose one person to be Mr. Wolf. The wolf stands at one end of the garden or room with their back to the other players.
Ask the time: The other players stand at the opposite end and call out, ‘What time is it, Mr. Wolf?’.
Take steps: The wolf answers with a time (e.g., ‘It's 4 o'clock’). The players take that number of steps forward towards the wolf.
Repeat: The players repeat the question and the steps.
The chase: Eventually, when the wolf decides, they will shout, ‘It's dinner time!’ instead of a time.
Run back: The wolf turns around and tries to catch one of the players before they can run back to the starting line.
New round: The first person caught becomes the new wolf, and the game repeats.
