Gather children in a circle.

Say dramatically:

“Oh no! The Emotion Monsters have mixed up all the feelings! We are now Emotion Explorers and we must travel around the room to find emotions, move our bodies, and unlock kindness powers!”


Resources

Set Up

Place emotion signs around the room/playground:

Happy
Sad
Angry
Worried
Excited
Calm
Proud
Lonely
Silly

Spread them apart so children must move between them.

You can:

tape them to walls
place cones on the floor
use hoops or mats as “emotion islands”

Instructions

Children start in the middle.
Leader calls:
• An emotion
• A movement challenge
• A coping/kindness action
Children must race to the correct emotion station and complete the challenge.

FULL GAME GUIDE
1. HAPPY ISLAND ?
Call:
“Find HAPPY!”
Children:
• skip or hop there
• make huge smiles
• high-five someone nearby
Ask:
“What makes you feel happy?”
Quick coping skill:
“Sharing happiness helps others feel good too.”

2. WORRIED WOODS ?️
Call:
“Quick! Someone feels worried!”
Children:
• tiptoe quietly there
• hug themselves gently
Teach:
“When we worry, breathing slowly can help.”
Do together:
• 3 deep breaths
• smell the flower ?
• blow the candle ?️
Ask:
“Who helps you when you worry?”

3. ANGRY VOLCANO ?
Call:
“The volcano is rumbling!”
Children:
• stomp to the station
• freeze with angry faces
Then say:
• “Freeze! We can feel angry safely.”
• Teach safe anger release:
• squeeze fists tight
• shake arms out
giant lion breath:
“ROOOAAAR!”
Ask:
“What can we do instead of hurting?”
Suggested answers:
• breathe
• talk
• ask for space
• count to 5

4. CALM CLOUDS ☁️
Call softly:
“Float to Calm Clouds…”
Children:
• move slowly like floating clouds
• sit or balance quietly
Mini mindfulness:
Ask them to:
• listen for quiet sounds
• wiggle then relax shoulders
• take one peaceful breath
Challenge:
“Can you freeze like a calm statue?”



5. EXCITED JUNGLE ?
Call excitedly:
“The jungle is FULL of excitement!”
Children:
• run, bounce or jump there
• shake whole bodies
Then teach regulation:
“Excitement is fun, but we still need calm bodies sometimes.”
Challenge:
• jump fast for 5 seconds
• freeze instantly
This helps self-control.

6. SAD SEA ?
Call gently:
“Someone feels sad today.”
Children:
• slow-motion walk there
• pretend to paddle a boat
Ask:
“What helps when someone feels sad?”
Teach kindness:
• kind words
• hugs (if wanted)
• sitting together
• asking “Are you okay?”
Optional:
Children make a giant heart shape with arms.

7. PROUD MOUNTAIN ?️
Call:
“Climb Proud Mountain!”
Children:
• pretend to climb
• stand tall superhero style

Ask:
“What is something you are proud of?”
Examples:
• helping
• trying hard
• sharing
• learning something new
Everyone cheers:
“I am proud of YOU!”

BONUS GAME IDEAS
Speed Round
Call emotions rapidly:
• “Happy! Calm! Excited! Worried!”
• Children race between stations.
• Excellent for energetic groups.
Emotion Charades
• A child acts an emotion using only movement.
• Others guess and run to matching station.

For VERY energetic children

Use:

jumping
animal walks
races
freeze games
quick transitions

Keep rounds short:
30–60 seconds each.

For shy children

Allow:

partner play
copying others
non-verbal answers

Never force sharing.

Keep Language Simple

Use:

“big feelings”
“calm body”
“kind choices”
“safe ways”

Avoid overly complex emotional vocabulary.
