Resources

• A hopscotch grid (drawn with chalk or tape)
• A small stone, beanbag, or coin

Instructions

Take turns: Decide who goes first.

Throw your marker: Toss your stone or beanbag onto square number 1. Make sure it lands inside the square and doesn’t bounce out.

Hop through the squares:
Hop on one foot in single squares.
Land with two feet in side-by-side squares.
Skip the square with your marker.

Pick up your marker: On the way back, stop on the square before your marker, bend down, and pick it up — without falling!
Next turn: If you complete your turn, throw the marker on the next number on your next turn.

Lose a turn if you:
Step on a line
Miss a square
Lose your balance
…then it’s the next player’s turn.

Win the game: The first player to throw the marker on all the squares and hop through the whole grid wins!
Tips for fun:
Cheer for your friends!

Try hopping backward or faster when you get good!
