Aim of Badge: To encourage Brownies to develop their writing skills

This Badge has 5 options of which 3 must be completed

ADD A BIT ON

Introduction
This is a good activity to introduce the idea of writing a story

Instructions
• Leaders and Brownies sit in a circle
• Leader explains we are going to try and tell a story and each of the Brownies are encourage to add to the story
• Leader starts to tell a story
• For example, “Stella was on her way to Brownies. Brownie Owl had promised that as soon as there was a clear night they would go out and look at the stars, and tonight was clear.
Stella couldn’t wait; she longed to learn all about space.
As she walked, she began to wonder what it would be like to be a Brownie on another planet.
Suddenly, there was a blinding flash of light and Stella tripped over a paving slab
When she picked herself up, she saw……
• Leader stops and the Brownie on the left takes up the story for a few seconds stopping mid-sentence
• The story is taken up by each Brownie in the circle
• The goal is to try to bring the story to a conclusion by the time it gets back to the Leader
