Honeycomb Havoc

Description

The YP are Worker Bees trying to collect nectar from different flower patches to bring back to the hive. However, there are Wasps (predators) on the prowl, and the Queen Bee (the Leader) keeps changing the weather conditions!

Resources

4 Cones or Markers: To set up in the four corners of the hall, representing different flowers (e.g., Lavender, Clover, Sunflower, Bluebell).

"Nectar" Tokens: High-visibility beanbags, tennis balls, or plastic cones placed in the very center of the hall (the "Meadow").

A Hula Hoop (or Bucket) for each Six: Placed in their designated corner to act as their "Hive."

Instructions

? How to Play

Setup: Divide the Cubs into their Sixes. Assign each Six to a corner flower/hive. Put the pile of nectar tokens in the center of the room.

The Foraging Run: When the leader shouts "Buzz off!", one Cub from each Six must flap their wings (run) to the center, grab one piece of nectar, and run it back to their Six's hive. As soon as they return, the next Cub goes.

The Wasp Attack: Appoint one or two Leaders (or Young Leaders) to be Wasps. They patrol the space between the flowers and the center. If a Cub is tagged by a Wasp while carrying nectar, they must drop the nectar back in the center and run back to their hive to try again.

The Queen’s Command: At any point, the Queen Bee (Leader) can blow a whistle and shout a special condition:

"Rainstorm!" – All bees must instantly freeze where they are to protect their wings. Anyone who moves has to return to their hive.

"Wasp Swarm!" – The Wasps can now freeze-tag anyone (even bees without nectar). Tagged bees must do 5 star-jumps to "shake off the wasp" before running again.

"Sun's Out!" – Normal play resumes.

? Winning the Game

The game ends when the center meadow is completely empty of nectar. The Six with the most nectar tokens in their hive wins!

? Bonus: The Bee Trivia Twist (To slow them down if they get too chaotic)

If you want to inject a bit of "skills for life" knowledge into the evening, you can add a Trivia Intermission.

Halfway through the game, shout "Return to the Hive!" Every Cub must sit in their corner. Ask a bee trivia question to the pack. The first Six to put their hands up and answer correctly gets to "steal" two pieces of nectar from any other Six's hive.
