Description
A quick movement game that teaches children how to notice and say kind things to others.
Perfect for ages 4–6
Time: 3–5 minutes
Group size: 5–20 children
Goal of the Game
Children practice:
- saying kind words
- listening to others
- taking turns
- making friends feel happy and included
Resources
One soft ball
(foam ball, beanbag, soft toy, or rolled-up socks)
Optional:
music
kindness stones
emotion cards
compliment prompt cards
Instructions
Children form a circle.
Leader says: “Today we are using KIND words to make people feel happy!”
Demonstrate; Leader gently tosses the ball to one child and says a compliment such as:
“You are a great helper.”
“I like your smile.”
“You are kind.”
“You are a good friend.”
“I like how you share.”
“You make me laugh.”
That child then tosses the ball to another child and gives a compliment.

- “You play nicely.”
- “You are helpful.”

Encouragement Compliments

Movement Variations
1. Silly Throw
Children must:
- hop
- spin
- clap
before throwing the ball.
Keeps energy high and adds laughter.
2. Compliment & Move
After giving a compliment, everyone:
- jumps once
- does a happy dance
- wiggles
Extra Support for Shy Children
allow children to repeat sentence starters:
“I like your…”
“You are good at…”
“Thank you for…”
“You make me feel…”
