Learning how to call 999, what they will ask, which emergency services are available and how to describe location if address not known.

Send home with instructions to learn their address including postcode and to ask parents to look up 'What Three Words' for their house

Resources

Phones - mixture of landline and mobile phones
Headset for call handler
Fancy dress for - Police, Fire service, Ambulance, Coast Guard and Mountain Rescue

Scenario Cards

Ideally internet to look up 'what three words'

Instructions

One person is the caller and picks a scenario card which they read out
They then dial 999
The call handler says 'Emergency - which service?'
The caller chooses the most appropriate service (the Beavers dressed up in costume for this gets ready)
The call handler asks - the number they are calling from, their location and what happened
Once the address/location has been said the dressed up Beavers race to the scene (can make it a race with a stopwatch)
