Description

A game about creeping closer to Mr Fox and running away

Resources

Open play area

Instructions

One leader is "Mr Fox" and stands at one end with their back to the children.

The young people line up at the other end of the playing area and call out together, "What's the time, Mr Fox?" Mr Fox calls back a time — "e.g. three o'clock!" — and the young people take that many steps forward (e.g. three steps).

Repeat: they keep asking, creeping closer each time.

When Mr Fox decides they're close enough, instead of a time he shouts "Dinner time!", turns, and chases them — everyone runs back to the start line. Anyone caught (a gentle tag) can help Mr Fox or just rejoin for the next round.

Optional - Keep Leaders as Foxes for younger ages to avoid collisions and keep the game moving.

Optional - First young person to reach Mr Fox, before Dinner Time is called, can be the next Mr Fox.
