Paper Aeroplane Challenge (Duration: 90 minutes)
Report Copyright Infringement View in OSM UK
Description
This activity involves creating and testing paper aeroplanes, promoting creativity, and understanding the principles of flight. ✈️
Resources
- A4 paper (one sheet per member)
- Markers for decoration
Instructions
1. Gather Materials: Provide members with sheets of A4 paper, markers for decorating, and tape if needed to secure wings.
2.
Design and Build (30 minutes):
- Show members a few different designs for paper aeroplanes (e.g., classic dart, stunt plane).
- Allow them time to design and create their own planes. They can decorate their planes with markers and write their names on them.
3.
Testing Phase (30 minutes):
- Set up a designated area for flying the planes (make sure it’s safe and spacious).
- Each member takes turns launching their planes. They can see whose flies the farthest or stay in the air the longest.
4. Discussion of Flight Principles (15 minutes): As the planes are flown, discuss the principles of aerodynamics, such as lift, drag, and thrust.
5. Reflection (15 minutes): Conclude with members sharing their experiences, what designs worked best, and why they think certain planes flew better than others.
