Instructions
The Basic Idea
Break the Promise into three parts and give each part a big, memorable action.
• “I promise to do my best…” Hands on hips - superhero pose.
• “…to be kind and helpful…” Big hug, then pretend to help someone.
• “…and to love my world.” Make a big circle with your arms.
Repeat it faster, slower, quieter, louder.
Turn It Into a Game
Once they know the actions, start saying the Promise wrong:
“I promise to do my WORST!” “I promise to be mean and unhelpful!” “I promise to love my… POTATO.”
They shout “NOOOO!” and correct you - they’ll love it.
Promise Simon Says
• “Simon says… Promise!”
• “Simon says… Be kind!”
• “Simon says… Love your world!”
• Then try to trick them: “Be a dinosaur!”
This builds listening skills without feeling like teaching.
Important Note
The goal for Week 1 is simply:
“I know what the Promise is and I understand the basic ideas behind it.”
They don’t need to memorise it yet.
Optional Extra
Create three permanent Promise cards for your Drey:
• DO MY BEST
• BE KIND & HELPFUL
• LOVE MY WORLD
