1st MH Treasure Hunt on the Lake

Description
A timed treasure hunt on Summerleaze Lake in Maidenhead using compass bearings and grid references followed by answering the questions that they have found. Points are scored for each correct answer and the time they took to gather the questions and complete the quiz is taken away from this to decide which team is the winner.
Resources
Treasure Hunt rules (attached).
Treasure Hunt routes (planned using OS maps) and compass bearings from point to point (examples attached) and questions.
Laminated A4 OS map of the lake.
Sweets sufficient for the number of Scouts participating multiplied by the number of checkpoints.
Empty 500ml bottles to containing the clues and questions multiplied by the number of checkpoints for each team.
String to hang the bottles from.
Compasses for around one per four Scouts participating and floats to attach to each compass to prevent them getting lost.
Paper and pencils.
Stopwatches multiplied by the number of teams.
Permit holder(s) for the watercraft you are going to use and paddleboards or kayaks or canoes to travel in. At least one competent adult should remain with each team.
All of the normal measures must be taken for using equipment on the lake (e.g. buoyancy aids fitted and checked).
Instructions
Decide how much time you have available and the competency of the Scouts when choosing to use the shorter or longer routes.
The permit holder(s) should decide at the time whether the activity can proceed as planned.
Divide the Scouts up into two teams (or more if you have planned more routes).
Read out the rules.
Once the watercrafts and Scouts are all ready to set off hand each team their first bottle and start the stopwatches.
