Description

A set of printable planning and progress-tracking resources for Senior Branch leaders and members. This is not a single activity. It is a resource pack to dip into across a term or a year.

It contains four items: an A3 wall poster explaining the three Programme Pathways, a set of nine progress cards covering every stage from enrolment to Golden Sun, a one-page worksheet for planning a single meeting, and an editable 15-week Programme Planner for the leadership team.

The pack is designed to make the Senior Branch Programme visible to members, so they can see what they are working towards and record it themselves, and to give leaders a practical planning structure that keeps prep manageable when a unit has members on different pathways.

Resources

To use the pack:
- A copy of the Senior Branch Travel Journal, which holds the full wording of every challenge. These resources summarise and track, they do not replace it.
- Access to OGM for recording completed challenges and badges.
- A printer. Colour is better but everything works in black and white.

Printing suggestions:
- Pathways Poster: A3 portrait, ideally 200gsm. One per unit for the wall. Also prints fine at A4 as a handout.
- Progress Cards: A4 landscape, single sided, one set per member. Print only the cards a member needs rather than all nine.
- Plan a Night worksheet: A4 portrait, one per meeting being planned.
- Programme Planner: Word document, editable. For the leadership team rather than members. No need to print.

Nothing else is needed. No materials, no budget, no specialist kit.

Instructions

Please note: this is a resource pack for leaders, not a single activity to run. Use the parts that suit your unit and ignore the rest.

1. PATHWAYS POSTER (A3)
Put it on the wall where you meet. It sets out the sequence: Becoming a Senior Brancher, then Now You're a Senior Brancher, then a choice of three Pathways. It includes an at-a-glance comparison of time commitment, age and number of awards. Useful at the start of a term, when a new member joins, or any time someone asks what they should be doing next. It also carries the Gaisce warning that matters most: register before starting, because no credit is given retrospectively.

2. PROGRESS CARDS (9 SHEETS)
One sheet per stage, with a tick and date box for every challenge:

- Becoming a Senior Brancher, the six pre-Promise challenges
- Now You're a Senior Brancher, the five challenges after enrolment
- Bronze Star, plus a 13-week log sheet
- Silver Moon, plus a 26-week log sheet
- Golden Sun, plus a 52-week log sheet
- My Badge Log, for Pathway C interest badges and the three Diva pins

Give members the sheet for the stage they are at. They fill it in themselves as they go. It is a paper record that sits alongside OGM, not instead of it, and it makes signing people off much easier at the end of a term. The Pathway A cards mark with a star the items that count towards the matching Gaisce Award.

3. PLAN A NIGHT WORKSHEET
A single sheet for planning one meeting properly. Work through it with the members who are planning the night. It covers the basics, which Adventures the night feeds and which challenges someone could tick off, a run of the night in three parts, kit and cost, what has to happen beforehand and who is doing it, and a final section prompting you to put it on OGM with a description a parent would understand. Good for Senior Branchers planning their own night, which counts towards the Now You're a Senior Brancher challenge on helping plan an activity.

4. PROGRAMME PLANNER, 15 MEETINGS (WORD)
A worked example of a full term for a unit running three pathway groups at once. It sets out a standard 1.5 hour meeting shape, a 15-week grid showing what each group does week by week around a shared weekly theme, a Bronze and Silver comparison table, a menu of fun activities and interest badges that suit a mixed 14 to 30 age group, and practical reminders on catering, records, safeguarding and trips.

It is editable on purpose. Slot in your own dates, leaders and activities. If you only have a couple of new members, fold Group 1 into the other two, since members can move between pathways anyway.

The challenge wording is taken from the Senior Branch Travel Journal. If you spot anything that has changed or does not match, please tell us so we can fix it.
