Instructions
Gather everyone together and explain that they’re about to take part in the Healthy MasterChef Challenge.
Split the group into small teams of around 3–4 children.
Explain that each team has 15 minutes to create the healthiest, tastiest and most eye-catching snack they can using only the ingredients they’ve been given.
Before they begin, spend a few minutes talking about what makes a snack healthy. Ask questions such as… What foods give us lots of energy? Why is fruit and vegetables good for us? What could we add to make our snack even healthier?
Once everyone is ready to start the challenge, start the timer and let the teams begin creating their masterpiece. Encourage everyone to work together, share jobs and think creatively.
When time is up, each team should give their snack a fun name and present it to the judges, explaining what they have made, why they chose those ingredients and what makes their snack a healthy choice.
Score each team’s creation using the following categories, before announcing a winner. If possible, let teams taste each other’s snacks too.
Taste: Does it taste good?
Appearance: Does it look colourful and inviting?
Creativity: Is it an original or imaginative idea?
Healthiness: Have they included lots of nutritious ingredients?
