Description

Aimed at Scouts and the Skills Challenge Award. Scouts learn 27 Laundry symbols as a life skill and test thier knowledge in an active fun relay game. The bizzare complexity of the symbols adds a fun element in the relay.
Could count as a "similar home skill" for challenge award skills badgework (especially if you add folding a scout shirt properly with the relay)

Resources

Print the PDF which gives you everything you need. You will need to cut out the cards with scissors. Option to laminate for future use or hold as a stand by activity.

Instructions

1. Place the Scouts in teams at one end of the hall with the Laundry symbols sheets (1 & 2) for reference (print for each team)
2. Have a leader / YL / helper per team at the other end of the hall with the 27 symbols cards (print a set for each team)
3. Scouts take turns to run to the end of the hall and view a symbol card and say what it is. If they get it incorrect it goes to the back of the pile. If they get it correct, they take the card back to the starting line.
4. The first team to identify all the cards are the winners.
