Description
Sort badges in order of preference. Come up with activity ideas for top-rated badge. Plan a game (back up games provided)
Resources
Set of badge cards per team (attached)
Copy of Activity Badge Criteria per team (from 080.C.W01.F2F)
Pens/Pencils
Clipboards
Paper
Cones
Pack of playing cards per team (or could use badge cards and use the Activity badges in place of the red/joker cards, Staged badged would be instead of blacks, could also do something with the sponsored badges)
Instructions
Give the sixes a pack of cards each. The cubs have to sort the cards into traffic light piles (green= absolutely want to achieve, yellow=would like but not a priority, red=not interested).
Get them to write down their 2 smallest piles (most likely red and yellow).
Get them to sort their green pile into the order they would like to do them.
Come up with at least 1 idea for each criteria for the top-rated Green badge (or 2 if they’re quick). Instructions should be clear so Leaders and other cubs can understand them. They might be asked to help run an activity!
Plan a game as a Six for later in the evening for the whole Pack to play. Ideally something new to Cubs and easy to learn (they will be teaching the rest of the Pack).
Game - Ambidextrous Relay
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=22acuMcJ8sc
Baden-Powell was ambidextrous - he could write with his left and right hand well.
In Sixes
One at a time - hop to the other end on one leg (no swapping) to collect a cone
Hop back on the other leg (again, no swapping legs)
Game - Cards
1 leader per team to hold the cards.
Players take turns turning over a card.
Black - go to the back of the line
Red - Run to the other end of the hall and back
Joker - Hop to the other end of the hall and back
If you want to be mean - Jokers could be put back randomly in the deck.
The first team to get to the bottom of their pack of cards and sit down wins.
Game - Advance/Retreat
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Vr40V3U-GKY
Have 1 or 2 cavalry, the rest are infantry
Each group is going to be facing to other at each ends of the hall
Leader calls out “infantry advance X steps” or “cavalry advance x steps” (they can pass each other)
When the leader shouts “infantry retreat!” - the infantry need to try to get back to their line without being captured (gentle tagged) by the cavalry. If tagged they join the cavalry in the next round
Keep playing until there is 1 infantry left
