Lighting fires in colanders

Resources

1-2 Colander(s) per patrol, bushcraft knifes, cotton wool, newspaper, tinder, small firewood/sticks and fire steels. (Marshmallows and chocolate digestives for smores)

Instructions

Start with short introduction and safety briefing then watch "How to" video. Outside, scouts to collect suitable wood (and split if necessary), build and light fires. (cooking smores or hotdogs optional)

This activity can easily be modified in to a competition, who is first to boil water/burn through a string and so on.
