Description
Objectives:
Refine and expand the drama scripts initiated in prior sessions.
Empower Scouts to strengthen storytelling abilities, collaborative skills, and self-assurance through interactive theater activities.
Resources
Pens or pencils
Scrap paper
Simple props (e.g., scarves, a box for treasure, flashlight)
Instructions
1) Getting Started (5 minutes)
> Instructions for Leaders:
1. Split Scouts into Groups:
Divide them into small groups of 3-4.
Give each group a pencil, an eraser, and some paper.
> Lay Out Prompts:
1. Each group receives random sentence prompts (e.g., "Watch out! There’s a trap!" or "I think we found something!").
2. They arrange them to form a short conversation.
> Create a Theme:
1. Encourage a fun and adventurous story.
2. Example: A group of explorers searching for treasure in an ancient temple.
2) Writing the Script (10 minutes)
> Develop Characters:
Each group assigns roles (e.g., leader, sidekick, villain).
Example:
Ali (The Worried One)
Mariam(The Brave One)
The Temple Guardian (Protects the treasure)
> Build the Setting:
Where is the scene taking place?
Example: Deep inside a mysterious jungle temple.
> Write Dialogue:
Encourage simple, clear lines that make sense.
Example conversation:
Mohammed: "The treasure should be in this temple!"
Ali: "I don’t know… it looks dangerous!"
Temple Guardian: "Only the worthy may pass!"
3. Rehearsing the Performance (5 minutes)
>Practice Lines:
Encourage Scouts to use expressions and gestures.
> Use Props & Movement:
Example: A scarf as a treasure map, a flashlight as a torch.
* Build Confidence: Remind them to speak clearly and face the audience.
4. Performing the Show (10 minutes)
Each group presents their scene.
Encourage creativity—acting out traps, finding clues, etc.
5. Reflection (5 minutes)
Ask Scouts:
What did you enjoy most?
What was challenging?
What would you improve next time?
