Description
Make a wooden nameplate to go on your bedroom door
Resources
Wood - 2m x 60mm x 6mm
Pre-cut plywood letters, 3mm X 40mm (enough to make Cubs first names) from http://www.inf.co.uk or other source
Rulers, pencils, T-square, saw, sandpaper, acrylic paints, wood glue, varnish, brushes, brush cleaner (adult use only), double-sided sticky pads
Instructions
Week 1: (50 to 60 minutes)
Safety briefing - safe use of tools
Cubs lay out their letters and work out the length of wood needed.
Mark lines for saw cuts and cut wood to length
Sand down all surfaces to smooth, removing pencil marks and any saw marks
Week 2: (20 - 30 minutes)
Design colour scheme for letters on paper before painting
Paint front of letters with acrylic paint and allow to dry
Week 3: (30 - 40 minutes)
Safety briefing - use of glues and solvent-based varnishes
Glue letters to wood, leave to dry for 5 minutes
Varnish to seal, and leave to dry
Week 4: (5 minutes)
Fix double-sided pads to back
Cubs take nameplate home.
