Instructions

Clause: 5. Investigate where the water in your taps comes from. Find out if it has been treated, and whether there are any additives such as fluoride. Challenge the unit to drink from re-usable water bottles rather than buying bottled water.

Background: At the website nzwwa.org.nz (look under library/educational booklets) there is a downloadable booklet The story of drinking water. Or use this link https://bit.ly/3kqr4H2 to access the document. It is 92 pages of interesting information.

Also search your local authority's website. Usually it is local government who manages the water supply for their constituents. They will likely have photos, information etc suitable for the public They may even have tours of their facilities available.

How to: Together make a model of how we get our drinking water. Do this outside with buckets and other wet things. The web resource above has some activities to demonstrate the water cycle.
